“Persuade Husband”


   This is a performance of modern tea-picking opera, which is written by Mao Bingquan and performed by the municipal tea-picking opera troupe. The story happened in the SARS (Atypical Pneumonia) period. A young farmer Sheng Gen went out to work and contacted a suspect SARS patient on the way of his back home. On his arrival, his wife Huo Xiu persuaded him to take quarantine measures. At first, Sheng Gen was full of worries and refused the idea. Huo Xiu persuaded him again and again patiently and Sheng Gen finally was aware and went to the hospital for separation.


“Grow Wheat”


   This is a performance of traditional tea-picking opera, which is arranged and performed by the municipal tea-picking opera troupe. The folk story describes that a farmer Wu Tianfang’s wife is unwilling to do farming work as she is occupied with housework, but she is finally inspired by Wu to grow wheat together with him. This performance won the gold award on the 2nd China Binzhou Boxing International Opera Art Festival in 2004.


“Ward Anecdote”


   This is a performance of modern tea-picking opera, which is written by Xing Zhi and Gong Qianyun and performed by the municipal tea-picking opera troupe. The story implies that the ward is not only a place for patients, but a small window of the society reflecting a certain social phenomenon and enlightening human. The performance won the “Excellent Production Award” in the 6th Jiangxi Camellia Opera Festival.


“Concubine Lou and Prince Ning”


   This is a performance of Beijing Opera, which is written by Xing Zhi and Mao Bingquan and performed by the municipal tea-picking opera troupe. Based on the legend between Concubine Lou and Prince Ning in the Ming Dynasty, the story creates an honorable noble lady in Chinese feudal society, who is loyal to love, knowledgeable and intelligent and deeply conscious of the righteousness of causes. The performance won the “Excellent Production Award” and the “Performance First Prize” in the 4th Jiangxi Camellia Opera Festival.


“Mad Girl in Hidden Glen”


   This is a performance of the tea-picking opera, which is written by Zhao Wujie and Fang Jiayin and performed by the municipal tea-picking opera troupe. The story tells that a country girl Lu Mei is off her head when she gets the bad news that her boyfriend Shan Bao died in a traffic accident. One day, Lu Mei meets and keeps at Qiu Lin, who has been engaged but looks quite like Shan Bao. On Qiu Lin’s marriage ceremony, he tries his best to cure Lu Mei but is misunderstood by his wife, who is filled with worries and suspects all day long and finally falls down dead to a cliff by accident. After Lu Mei recovers, she promises Qiu Lin to get married with him to appreciate his obligation. It happens that Lu Mei meets his previous boyfriend who is actually alive, so Lu Mei faces a difficult to choose for her love. This performance won the second prize in the 2nd Jiangxi Camellia Opera Festival.


“Predestination by a Romantic Poem”


   This is a performance of Shaoxing Opera, which is written by Xing Zhi and performed by the municipal tea-picking opera troupe. The story tells that a Song Dynasty talented girl Kuang Ruomei falls in love with a youth poet Song Yujing. Song wins in Kuang’s talent competition for husband choice and then gets married with Kuang. Du Cai, son of the prime minister, also loves Kuang. To get love from Kuang, he did many dirty tricks on Kuang and Song. The emperor of the Song Dynasty encourages Du’s tricks at first but is finally aware of the fact and realizes talents are important for the country development and then let the couple get together again. This performance won the “Performance Second Prize” in the 1st Jiangxi Camellia Opera Festival.
