Famous Historical City  
Firstly built in 202 BC, with over 2200-year history, Nanchang is filled with abundant cultural inheritance and precious humanities imprints, having been reputed as “full of nature’s treasures and outstanding people” since ancient times. There are many celebrities born in Nanchang, having cultivated Ling Lun (Mr. Hong Ya)—the founder of Chinese music, Xu Ruzi—a profound scholar in Nanzhou of Han Dynasty, Xu Xun—the founder of Jingming Sect and a water conservancy expert in the Jin Dynasty, Ba Da Shan Ren (Zhu Da)—a master of freehand brush work in the late Ming and early Qing dynasty, and so on. Masters in past dynasties like Zhu Xi and Wang Yangming had left famous stories and anecdotes in Nanchang. Nanchang possesses a lot of cultural relics, having more than 600 ancient cultural relics; Tengwang Pavilion is reputed as “one of three famous towers in Jiangnan”, and Wang Bo, a famous poet in the Tang Dynasty, once wrote the famous lines here, “Proud eagle flies high in the sky, with rosy clouds floating aside; the river runs far near the horizon, reflecting the same color of blue sky”. Xishan Wanshou Palace is the birthplace of filial piety of Taoist Jingming Sect; Shengjin Tower stands like a giant for over 1100 years, and it is the treasure of Nanchang”; the archaeological discovery of Haihun Marquis tomb astonishes the world. Meanwhile, Nanchang is the cradle of Chinese people’s army and the cradle of the idea of reform and opening-up of China.

“Proud eagle flies high in the sky, with rosy clouds floating aside; the river runs far near the horizon, reflecting the same color of blue sky”. It is not only the poetic description of the beautiful scenery of Nanchang in history, but also the true reflection of the ecological environment of modern Nanchang. Nanchang is situated near the mountains and by the waters, with Meiling West Mountains in the west, Ganjiang River passing through the city, and two rivers and eight lakes interspersed. With city greening coverage rate reaching 43% and water area reaching 29.78%, Nanchang is a provincial capital city with the largest water area proportion among all the provincial capital cities, and it is awarded National Civilized City, National Hygiene City, National Garden City and National Forest City successively, reputed as “Pearl of Poyang Lake, Water Capital of China”.
Industrial New City
Nanchang, broad in development space, is planning to take four years (2017-2020) to fully propel and implement “tens of billions” project, mainly building four major strategic emerging pillar industries (auto and new energy vehicle, electronic information, biomedicine, aviation equipment), four major characteristic advantageous traditional industries (green food, modern textile, new materials, mechanical and electrical equipment manufacturing) and several producer service industries (industrial design, sci-tech consultation, inspection and detection, information service, financial service, mass entrepreneurship and innovation development, intelligent logistics), forming “4+4+X” new-type industrial development system.
Dynamic City
Nanchang, reputed as one of global ten major vigorous cities, develops with rapid change and full vigor. Traffic network in Nanchang leads to all directions, with railway, highway, waterway and airway blending as a whole. The rail freight line from Nanchang to Rotterdam in the Netherlands has been opened, and it only takes a dozen of days for cargo to reach Rotterdam. The opening of the first “point to point” China-Europe two-way train in Jiangxi realizes two-way connection between Nanchang and Belarus; direct route from Nanchang to Los Angeles was realized for the first time, having initiated a new era of intercontinental airline. Besides, the opening and operation of Subway Line 1 make Nanchang officially step into “subway era”. The opening of Shanghai-Kunming High-speed Railway makes Nanchang rapidly step into “high-speed rail era”, linking with surrounding cities to become one-hour high-speed rail economic circle.
